Chinese Taipei Ladies Tour to Thailand!
Here's a summary of our tournament weekendWe arrived in Bangkok on the Friday afternoon and made the 2 hour trip to Pattaya. That afternoon, we had a training session in the hot Thai weather and tried to locate the closest ice cream vendor (just kidding, but it was really hot!).
On Saturday, we played a round robin format against the teams in our division. We went 1-3, winning against Iran and losing to Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Arabian Gulf, which allowed us to advance to the semi-finals the next day. Our team had a shaky start but quickly overcame the initial nerves to put to use the skills we learned in practice. I can't remember specifically now, but we scored at least 6 tries on the first day which is a huge improvement from our previous tournament.
On Sunday, our first game was against powerhouse China. Our strategy was to play hard but focus on our second opponent. We were up against Guam in the second game. Both sides played an intense game but Guam came out on top. Our last game was against Hong Kong. It was very close, but in the end, we ranked 8th out of 14 teams.
Although we didn't do incredibly well, our girls gained a lot of experience and we know what we need to work on to improve our game. We're focusing on improving our standings at the East Asian Games to be held at the end of this year in Hong Kong.
Thanks for supporting us!
